Wedding Planning Can Be Stressful – Worldwide

Lately, I realise from other foreign wedding blogs that it is a worldwide trend that the wedding couple is stressful during the planning period.

According to my opinion and my experience, these are the 2 categories that I have found out.

Common concerns for bride:

1. Wondering if they have made the right choice?

2. Coping with the parents (especially the mother’s expectation)

3. Coping with the stress that comes from work and planning the wedding

4. Concern of their weight and facial look

5. Concern with new adaptation to the new family

Common concerns for groom:

2. Coping with the stress that comes from work and planning the wedding

3. Concern about relationship between wife-to-be and mother

From my planning wedding experience, thes concerns are unique to each of us because we are all unique. Sometimes, depending on couples, some are able to cope alone. Other couples cope as a pair.

My experience was I do cope alone because I have the habit of solving problems myself and I try not to let it affect my family, including my wife. Sometimes, such way of coping is not good and this is what I find out in the end. I believe that couple should be able to confide in each other, sharing the burden of the problems.

Wedding planning is about two persons, not one.

Sad to say, this is always easier to be said than to be done. Each of us has our own problems too and we always go into advising mode whenever we hear a problem. We want to solve them or at least tell the person not to worry. Putting ourselves into the stressful person, is this what we want to hear? Not to worry? Not to think about it?

During wedding planning, though it is important to complete the weekly tasks, it is also important to take time out to destress and unwind.

Progeria is an extremely rare, fatal genetic condition that is characterized by the appearance of accelerated aging in children.  As of June 2011, there are 80 known children living with Progeria throughout the world.  Children with Progeria are genetically predisposed to premature, progressive heart disease and exhibit the same characteristics of a much older, elderly person. Death is caused almost exclusively by heart disease at a devastatingly young age (an average of 13 years old).  Symptoms of Progeria are quite distinctive and include growth failure, loss of body fat and hair, aged-looking skin, and stiffness in joints. Babies are born appearing healthy, but begin to display characteristics of rapid aging at around 18-24 months.  Despite different ethnic backgrounds, children diagnosed with Progeria have a uniquely similar appearance.  Although their bodies age prematurely, the intellect of these amazing children remains unaffected.

The Progeria Research Foundation was established in 1999 by the parents of a child with Progeria, and is the only non-profit organization in the world dedicated to Progeria research.  As the driving force behind the discovery of the Progeria gene, PRF has made great progress in helping to achieve the mission of finding a cure. The foundation has also established a Medical and Research database that supplies physicians and families with medical recommendations for cardiac care, nutrition and other medical issues to help these children maintain a better quality of life.  With continued research, clinical trials, and new discoveries on the horizon, the ultimate goal of curing children with Progeria is looking more attainable than ever.  And, the best part is, each time you purchase photo greeting cards, you can be a part of this wonderful operation!

Billy Graham

q.DEAR BILLY GRAHAM: I’m 9 years old. Am I too young to give my life to Jesus? We go to church, but I think my parents believe I’m not old enough to ask Jesus to come into my life, although I want to. — M.F.

a. No, you’re not too young to give your life to Jesus! God loves you, and He not only loves you but He wants you to love Him in return. You can do this by asking Jesus to come into your life and making Him part of your life every day.

What do you need to know to become a follower of Jesus? First, you need to know that God made you and gave you your life. He did this because He loves you and wants you to become a member of His family. Then you also need to know that although God loves us, we don’t love Him the way we should. In fact, we often ignore Him and do things He doesn’t want us to do. The Bible calls this sin, and it tells us that every one of us — including you and me — “have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

This is why we need Jesus, because He came to take away our sins by dying on the cross for us. Now, all we need to do is receive the gift He offers us — the gift of forgiveness and eternal life. And you can accept that gift by asking Jesus to come into your life.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them” (Mark 10:14). This is Jesus’ invitation to you, and I pray you will accept His invitation by giving your life to Him today. God bless you.

How Kim Kardashian Makes Her Millions – Lawsuits, Endorsements and Twitter, Oh My!

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian has recently been the topic of discussion due to a lawsuit she has filed over a look-alike model appearing in an Old Navy commercial. Yet again, the reality star is making headlines for something other than talent. Most of the time we see her face, she's not doing much of anything at all. Many celebrities act or sing; some do both. Others play a sport or are professional models. However this pop culture icon rose to fame for just hanging out with the right people at the right time.

After being dubbed the richest reality TV star of 2010, one may ponder exactly how she makes so much money. The following is a listing of ten ways Kim Kardashian earns money without using an ounce of skill or talent (unless you count being pretty as a talent).

#1 – TV show

After gaining fame as Paris Hilton's sidekick and singer Ray J's girlfriend in a racy home movie, Kim and her family landed their own reality show, "Keeping Up With the Kardashians". The show has been on the air since 2007 and has had multiple successful spin-offs, all of which Kim has been involved in. The show is most likely her biggest money maker.

#2 – Twitter

The sultry brunette earns a paycheck for each brand or product she tweets about. One report found that she tweeted nine times in a single week for brands such as BeBe, ShoeDazzle and CVS Pharmacy. Kardashian make up to $10,000 per tweet.

#3 – Playboy

We all watched as the middle Kardashian sis went for the full Monty for Hugh Hefner's famous adult magazine during an episode of her TV series. Kim seemed reluctant, but at her mom's urging (undoubtedly due in part to her 10% manager fee), she decided to grin and bear bare it for the mag.

#4 – Modeling

Kimmie has raked in plenty of dough from her modeling gigs, including FHM, Carl's Jr. and Perfect Skin beauty products. On a recent episode of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians", in one of the more humble comments I've heard come out of her perfectly glossed lips, she acknowledged that she's not a "real model", and that she only models because she's "a personality".

#5 – Endorsements

The reality star has had a string of endorsements, including prepaid debit cards, QuickTrim diet products, Skechers, Shoe Dazzle and Midori Liqueur.

#6 – Clothing Stores

The three Kardashian sisters are the proud owners of a clothing boutique named DASH. The store has three locations, California, Miami and New York. The attention the ladies get has no doubt been their store's best advertising campaign, as I'm sure fans clamor to get in, hoping to catch a glimpse of the famous family.

#7 – Appearances

Kim-K makes tens of thousands of dollars simply for stepping a single, designer-clad foot into a nightclub or event.

#8 – Inheritance

The future Mrs. Humphries was not the first famous Kardashian; her dad was a very successful attorney who gained worldwide attention for defending O.J. Simpson. She and her siblings all received a sizeable inheritance after his untimely death.

#9 – Commercials

In 2007, the world got to know the socialite just a little bit better when a home video was released showing her engaging in sexual relations with singer Ray J. She sued Vivid Entertainment for rights to the video, but later settled for a reported $5 million. Not too shabby for a night's work.

#10 – Products lines

Not only does Kardashian have penchant for promoting products for major companies, she has also dabbled in coming up with her own product lines. These include a clothing line, perfume, a jewelry line and workout DVDs.

Texas Judge Beats Daughter who has Cerebral Palsey for Downloading « Btx3's Blog

This is utterly and completely out of control. This Judge needs a bit of his own “justice”…

Judge Under Fire After Daughter Posts Video of BeatingA Texas judge is facing a police investigation along with death threats after his daughter posted a video of a severe beating she endured in 2004, reports KRIS TV. The disturbing seven-minute clip has racked up more than 600,000 views on YouTube after Hillary Adams shared it on Reddit. “My father’s harassment was getting really bad, so I decided to finally publish the video that I had been sitting on for seven years,” she tells the TV station. The response from Aransas County Court Judge William Adams: “It happened years ago. … I apologized.” He added, “It’s not as bad as it looks on tape.”

The tape shows a screaming Hillary getting struck repeatedly with a belt, apparently because she had disobeyed her father by downloading music off the Internet. “She has had ataxic cerebral palsy from birth that led her to a passion for technology, which was strictly forbidden by her father’s backwards views,” says the text accompanying the video. Reddit has a “strong protective streak,” notes Gawker, and its users have quickly spread the story.

Update of Texas Judge Story

Police launched an investigation Wednesday into a Texas family law judge whose daughter posted a YouTube video of him savagely beating her with a belt during a tirade several years ago when she was a teenager…

The nearly 8-minute video, viewed more than 950,000 times as of late Wednesday, shows Aransas County Court-at-Law Judge William Adams lashing his then-16-year-old daughter in the legs more than a dozen times and growing increasingly irate while she screams and refuses to turn over on a bed to be beaten. The video was uploaded last week.

“Lay down or I’ll spank you in your (expletive) face,” Adams screams. His daughter, Hillary, wails and pleads for him to stop…

Hillary Adams said she set up the camera because she knew “something was about to happen.” Toward the end of the video, her father shouts that he plans to beat the girl “into submission” and rants about having a computer in the house and the problems it causes. The video ends with the adult woman telling her to leave the room and sleep on the sofa.

Elected in 2001, Adams draws an annual salary of $138,055 as Aransas County’s top judge. He dealt with at least 349 family law cases in the past year, nearly 50 of which involved state caseworkers seeking to determine whether parents were fit to raise their children…

Hillary Adams’ parents divorced in 2007 after 22 years of marriage, according to court records. The divorce petition states that “the marriage has become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities,” but a counter-petition filed by Adams’ ex-wife states that the divorce was filed under grounds of “mental cruelty.”

Court records show that the couple had another daughter who was 6 at the time.

Condoleezza Rice Book: 10 Things From ‘No Higher Honor’

Like us on Facebook

On immigration:

Rice wrote about the need for immigration reform. “The most devastating failure in our dealings with Mexico had less to do with foreign policy than with domestic affairs,” she wrote. She added that she does not “recognize my country when people talk of denying citizenship to the children born here of illegal-immigrant parents. I don’t see why we should continue to educate engineers and scientists and scholars from around the world — and then send them home.”

On Hurricane Katrina:

Rice wrote that she told the President they had a “race problem” after turning on the television while on a break in New York City and seeing that most of the people devastated by Katrina were black. She said she could not believe she had missed the mark when it came to the hurricane. “I wasn’t just the Secretary of State with responsibility for foreign affairs; I was the highest-ranking black in the administration and a key advisor to the President. What had I been thinking?”

On Guantánamo Bay prison:

Rice wrote that then-president George Bush was “blindsided and angry” when photos showing U.S. soldiers abusing prisoners were aired on “60 Minutes II.” Bush had recently been told about the abuse and the photos, but he had not seen the latter. She wrote about how conditions at Guantánamo were improved and that a Belgian official said it was a “model prison.” She noted recidivism among released prisoners. “This underscores the difficulty of fighting the war and simultaneously acting on our international obligations concerning detainee treatment,” she wrote. “It was a balancing act, and I believe that we eventually got it about right.”

On the empowerment of women:

Rice touched upon this topic and how she worked on it with Ambassador Shirin Tahir-Kheli. “Societies that treat women badly are dangerous societies,” she wrote. “The empowerment of women is not only morally right, it is also practical in the positive impact it has on so many social ills.” Rice also pointed out that some United Nations peacekeepers had been accused of rape. “Before our efforts the United Nations had been slow to shine a light on its own transgressions,” Rice wrote.

On Dick Cheney’s vice presidential staff:

Rice wrote that Cheney’s staff “seemed very much of one ultra-hawkish mind.” Rice wrote that while Cheney and his staff may have shared certain views, “some of the bureaucratic games that the Office of the Vice President played were not characteristic of my dealings with their boss.”

On Saddam Hussein’s capture:

While Rice was thrilled over Hussein’s capture, she regretted that the U.S. made the announcement: “The Iraqi press erupted in jubilation. It was a very satisfying moment, but I remember thinking that we’d made a mistake. An Iraqi should have made that announcement, I thought. But it was too late to make the capture of Saddam an Iraqi moment, not an American one.”

On the press:

Like Cheney did in his book, “In My Time,” Rice spoke about her own experiences with the media. She said that media reports saying that Don Rumsfeld refused to return her phone calls were not true. “I would not have put up with that, and neither would the President,” she wrote. Rice also described how she felt after releasing a statement about a procedure she would have for uterine fibroids. While she had issued the statement herself, she was “a bit surprised by the coverage the announcement received, including a long segment by Dr. Sanjay Gupta on CNN about the nature of uterine fibroids, complete with illustrations, and the details of the treatment that I would undergo.” She added that while she told herself it could help other women with that condition, she still “really resented the intrusion.”

On then-President-elect Barack Obama:

Rice and Bush decided that she would be the one to communicate with then-President-elect Barack Obama during the presidential transition. “We talked for the last time a few days before the inauguration. ‘Mr. President-elect,’ I said, ‘this is probably our last conversation before you enter the Oval Office. I am proud of your election. Good luck and Godspeed.’”

Godfathers of Comedy flaut stereotypes

Willie Fratto of the “Godfathers of Comedy” has jumped around the stand-up scene since the mid-’80s and made a name for himself playing everything from comedy clubs to cruise ships.

In the tradition of “The Blue Collar Comedy Tour” and “The Original Kings of Comedy” comes “The Godfathers of Comedy,” a group of the finest Italian-American comedians working today. The show features John Camponera, Frank Santorelli, Willie Fratto and Rocky LaPorte. Also in the group, but not on this tour, is Paul Diangelo. Each comedian has worked in the industry for years and ranks among the best working comedians in the country.Fratto has jumped around the stand-up scene since the mid-’80s and made a name for himself playing everything from comedy clubs to cruise ships.Santorelli, in addition to being one of the Boston area’s premier stand-ups, has appeared in several television shows and movies such as “Law and Order,” “Meet the Parents,” and “No Reservations.” He is probably best known for playing long-suffering Georgie the bartender on “The Sopranos” for eight years.LaPorte, too, has made a name for himself on screen as well as on stage, having been featured on several television shows and touring Iraq performing for American servicemen. LaPorte formed a friendship with Detroit comedian Tim Allen after the star was impressed by LaPorte’s act. They have since worked together in several of Allen’s projects, including “The Shaggy Dog” and “Last Man Standing.” LaPorte also will be seen next year on Fox’s upcoming reality show “So You Want to Date a Comedian?”John Caponera, a Chicago native, has had his own series on NBC and appeared regularly on The Drew Carey Show. He is widely known for his slew of McDonald’s commercials and his amazing vocal impersonation of late sports announcer Harry Carey. All four are lifelong comedians with a passion for being — pun intended — wise guys.“I just plan to do this until I die. I’ll do it until they tell me I can’t do it anymore,” says Fratto.“I was always getting in trouble in school for being a goof — just for laughing and nonsense — so at some point I just said that I should be getting paid for this,” Santorelli said with a laugh. The show was put together by Rick D’Elia, a fellow Italian-American comedian who now produces the show.“He hand picked all of us — we were his favorite comedians — and he told me that he wanted to start this thing called The Godfathers of Comedy and I want you to be in it, and I said, ‘Sure,’” Santorelli recalls. “I had worked with at least three of the guys already and it sounded like something I would like.”It was during a trip to the Montreal Comedy Festival — one of the biggest comedy shows in the world — when the idea for the show first came to LaPorte and D’elia. Getting the show off the ground, he says, was anything but easy.“They were doing this show there called ‘Wiseguys,’ and it had a bunch of Italian-American and Italian-Canadian comics in it. They were received really well, but they didn’t have any plans on continuing it in the states, so Rick D’elia and me were talking about doing something like that down in the states.“We tried a few times to get it started — one guy who was going to help us actually went to jail, if you believe that — then we talked Ron Nespie, this promoter from Chicago that we know, and he really got it going.”Even after they had found their amazing group of talent, and the support needed to create their show, the “Godfathers” still faced obstacles. Several anti-defamation groups objected to the show, stating it characterized Italian-Americans as gangsters because the title “Godfathers of Comedy” connected them to the famed mafia film.“We actually changed our name to ‘The Laugh Pack’ for a while,” Santorelli says, “but ‘The Godfathers of Comedy’ just sounded right to us so we went back to it after a little while.”LaPorte maintains that the show isn’t about any stereotypes or issues dealing with the mob, it’s all about having fun.“It’s no different than the Original Kings of Comedy or the Blue Collar Comedy Tour,” he said. “Anybody who watches it, knows that we’re not anti-anything; it’s just funny.”Fratto says that even though they are all united through Italian-American culture, the four of them couldn’t be more different — in both personality and comedic style.“We’re all pretty different,” he said. “I’m an easy-going guy; Rocky’s very, very easy-going with a real dry sense of humor; Santorelli has a huge ego; John’s all over the place; and Paul Diangelo is a consummate professional — constantly bringing in new material. He’s always pushing us, and he’s a little nuts. A lot of these guys are whack-jobs, so you give them some room, or we’d probably kill each other.”The “Godfathers” say that judging by recent success with the show they foresee it going on for quite a while. All of them say they love working with this group and that they couldn’t have hoped for better chemistry.“Yeah, we all come from the same background and we’re all Italian, we talk about being Italian, but that’s not the whole show,” says Fratto.“You don’t have to be Italian to enjoy or understand the show. We rally around the fact that we’re all Italian-American but after that, it’s just good comedy. It’s five veteran comedians that have been around a long time that can really make you laugh.”FYI“The Godfathers of Comedy” performed at The Palace of Auburn Hills on Oct. 28. According to their Facebook page, “Looks like we will bringing the guys back for a reunion at the Arcada Theatre (in St. Charles, Ill.) where we shot the show.”

Happy Halloween, readers! Now that the big day is upon us, let’s have a look at the top costumes and search trends for Halloween 2011. Google, Yahoo, and SortPrice have shared the top user searches and trends for Halloween costumes and other scary terms. Thankfully, it looks like we’ll be seeing a lot less of Snooki this year.

Angry Birds and Black Swan Costumes Catfight for Most Google Searches

Google doesn’t actually release a list of top searches by volume, but shares insight into which trends are most popular and how people are influenced this year.

The term [black swan costume] overtook [angry birds costume] in search in mid-October. Other fast-rising costume search terms are largely influenced by pop culture. Users are searching for costumes related to Pan Am, Captain America, Monster High, and more. Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga are dead even in the race for most searched pop singer costume, though Gaga isn’t faring nearly as well as she has over the past two Halloween seasons.

Captain America, Green Lantern & Where’s Waldo Costumes Top SortPrice List

Shopping search engine SortPrice.com’s annual list of the top Halloween costumes shows Captain America as the most popular Halloween costume for adults, with Harry Potter leading the pack for kids costumes.

Other adult costumes in the top 10: Green Lantern, Where’s Waldo, The Simpsons’ Duffman, Sexy Queen Bee, Tron Legacy, Angry Birds, Jersey Shore, Lady Gaga, and Sexy Pirate. CNBC’s Consumer Nation has a slideshow of trendy Adult Halloween Costumes that includes the ever-popular French Maid and Zombie Prom Queen, if you’re interested in more of the eye candy pictures from this article.

Yahoo Users Search Most for Star Wars and Vampire Adult Costumes

Yahoo’s top Halloween costumeslist for adults finds Star Wars, Vampires, Pan Am characters, Superheroes, and Catwoman in the top 5. Eighties costumes, Indians, and the Wizard of Oz also made the list.

Yahoo also released a list of the most search controversial costumes: Charlie Sheen Casey & Caylee Anthony Amanda Knox/Jessica Rabbit Osama bin Laden Chaz Bono

In their list of the top-searched sexy costumes, Yahoo lists “Sexy Smurf” and the second most popular term. Funny, I don’t remember that Smurf from the movie. Also on the sexy costume list: Sexy Superheroes, Sexy Men’s Cop, Sexy Peacock, Sexy Couples costumes. Get ready for Pumpkin Martinis and Margaritas if you’re hitting a party for Halloween; Yahoo has them at the top of the quirky Halloween food trends this month.

For babies and toddlers, it sounds like there will be a lot of cute little Angry Birds, Cookie Monsters, Pirates, and Stay Puff Marshmallows running around this year. For older kids, the top costume searches on Yahoo were for Lava Girl, Mickey and Minnie, Harry Potter, Michael Jackson, and “Nerd.”

Top Searched Halloween Candy and Recipes

If searches on Yahoo are any indication of what parents will have to poach out of their kids’ bags this year, get ready for plenty of M&Ms, candy corn, chewy caramels, Skittles, and Butterfingers. It seems people are quite conscious of the dietary needs of others, as Yahoo has an entire list of the most searched gluten-free candy this month: M&Ms (except pretzel), Butterfinger, Snickers, Jelly Belly, and plain Hershey’s Bars.

People who want to make their own Halloween treats have been searching most often for Halloween recipes for kids, Halloween cupcake recipes, brain Jell-O molds, toasted pumpkin seeds, and pumpkin cookies.

This year, I trashed my wedding dress to be a Zombie Bride and the kids are Tow Mater and a Clone Wars Stormtrooper. What are you going to be this Halloween? Let us know in the comments!
